Super large colorful huipil with beautiful weaving and striking embroidery!! It is from the Quetzaltenango region of Guatemala (Frequently referred to as Xela). This stunning huipil measures 39″ across the shoulders, and 26 1/2″ from the neckline to the bottom edges (folded). The neck opening is square and measures 5 1/4″ on each of the four sides. The sides are unstitched, but can easily be restitched if desired.

This brilliantly colored huipil is accented with hand-guided machine embroidery that features roses around the collar as well as down the front and back on a woven background. The detailed embroidery on the collar is roses of red, purple, orange and blue with matching patterns on front and back. A beautiful pair of birds adorns each side of the collar. A red rose garden cascades down both shoulders front and back. Various birds can be seen mixed in with the flowers. The center on both sides has a basket of roses, also accented with birds in a variety of colors. The woven background is full of colors of yellow/gold, blue, red, and green. The sleeves and collar are trimmed with royal blue velvet trim.

This huipil is in very good used condition, with little sign of wear. The lower white cotton portion of the huipil has become slightly dingy in a few places. This is a beautiful piece of wearable art!
