Very lovely Collector’s Vintage Santo huipil with beautiful weaving and striking embroidery! It is from the town of Patzité in the Quiché region of Guatemala. This darling huipil measures 18 1/2″ across the shoulders, 27″ across the shoulders including the sleeves from tip to tip, and 29″ from the neckline to the bottom edges (folded). The neck opening is diamond shaped and measures 5″ by 5″, with small string ties on one side. The sides are stitched from the sleeves to the bottom of the huipil.

This huipil is sweet with hand embroidery that features flowers around the neck on a hand woven background. The detailed embroidery on the collar is flowers of pink, purple, and gold with green leaves. The handwoven background fabric is deep burgundy with stripes of white. One of the sleeves is open at the bottom to allow ease in dressing the santo statue. There are two small accents of green thread on the front near the bottom on one side.

This huipil is an older vintage huipil that shows some age in the thread of the embroidery; the colors have lost some of their brilliance and there are a few loose threads. It is in good used condition, with a few sign of wear due to age.
