Santiago SacatepéquezSantiago Sacatepéquez

Stunning Vintage Huipil from Santiago Sacatepéquez, the town famous for the giant kites of All Saints Day. Traditional raised woven style with beautiful colorful design. Fantastic texture and color! This huipil measures 33″ across the shoulders, 25″ from the neckline to the bottom edges (folded). The neck opening is where the two panels join and is 12″ in length.

This two panel huipil is striking with elaborate raised weaving that gives this huipil a ‘nubby’ texture. The pattern includes mayan figures and quetzal birds (national bird of Guatemala) in a striking array of colors. The neckline, where the two panels meet, is trimmed in a coordinating-colored thread. The background fabric is a red and white striped cotton.

This huipil is in great used condition, with very few flaws. Perhaps a few loose threads.
